At Puppy School your pup will socialise with other puppies in a controlled and safe environment. They'll make new friends while they learn to interact with other dogs.

Puppy Pre-School is a great way to start your puppy off on the right paw. In this program, you'll learn about dog behaviour and use that knowledge to teach your puppy how to become a happy, healthy member of your household, helping to prevent problem behaviours in the future.

Puppy Pre-School Covers Many Topics, Including:

  1. Socialization: Introduce your puppy to other dogs, and people, in a low-key manner to help build confidence and social skills, allowing them to explore the world around them.
  2. Training: Use positive motivational training to teach your puppy. Understand how to establish yourself as the leader, how dogs learn, and how to gain control without punishment.
  3. Preventative Medicine: Discuss topics such as feeding, worming, grooming, vaccinations, de-sexing, general care, and what to do in an emergency.
  4. Problem Behaviours: Learn how to prevent issues like chewing, digging, barking, jumping up, separation anxiety, mouthing/biting, escaping, destructive behaviour, and challenges with toilet training.

Puppy Pre-School is designed for puppies aged 6 to 16 weeks. This is a critical period in a puppy's behavioural development when they are particularly receptive to learning both good and bad behaviours. This course will help you teach your puppy "good canine manners" before bad habits have a chance to form.

Course Details:

  • Duration: 3 weeks, 1.5 hours per week, 9 am to 10:30 am three consecutive Sundays.
  • Cost: $150 (non-refundable)
  • Children: Children are welcome but must focus on their own puppy and not interfere with other participants' training time. The class is fast-paced, and children under 7 years are not recommended as there is no time for young children to play with other puppies.

The course is led by Dr Miriam Meek, a veterinarian of over 30 years' experience.

Dr Miriam has seen almost every behavioural problem imaginable!

To Join the Course:

  • Your puppy must be aged between 6 and 16 weeks.
  • They must have had a vet health check, proof of vaccination, and have been owned and known to be healthy for at least 3 days.
  • Owners must attend each training session. There are no refunds or catch-up sessions, so please ensure you can commit to the entire course. Confirm course dates and times with your vet before enrolling.
  • The course is very information dense and there will be homework!

Bookings for our next course can be made at reception. Due to limited spots and high demand, payment is required at the time of booking to secure your place.

In order to maintain the highest standards, we limit each course to a maximum of 7 puppies—so act fast to secure your spot. BOOK EARLY!
